ABOUT ME


Kannan Vijayakumar, 30, is currently a freelance writer and director in Anchor Point Pictures and Lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic. He developed his interest in film making at the age of 15 and capitalized each and every opportunity to excel in the field. Kannan made his writing debut when he was 18, through ‘Vizhigal Sr4’ that won the Best Docu- Drama at Pradhana Vizha 2012.  He further manifested his skills and graduated as a course topper in Diploma in Moving Images at Temasek Polytechnic. 

His collaboration with local music composer, Shabir through‘Maybe’ music video, instantly became a hit among worldwide audiences. With that breakthrough, he has been writing and directing commercials, music videos, TV dramas and shows for local and international television channels. He has also organized 2 editions of Thirai: Singapore Tamil Short Film Festival in 2014 and 2016. Kannan did his degree in Nanyang Technological University, graduating with a Bachelor of Communication Studies (Honours) with Distinction specialising in Broadcast & Cinema studies. He was also awarded the IMDA Film Scholarship under the Media Education Scheme in 2015.
